Meet Ken Alfaro, a seasoned Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with a remarkable journey that began in 2008 in the vibrant city of Houston, Texas. Ken's dedication to the art was evident from the start, earning his Blue Belt under the guidance of the esteemed Jorge Macaco. Progressing through the ranks, Ken achieved his Purple, Brown, and Black Belts under the mentorship of Victor Pozas, himself a black belt under the legendary Dean Lister. Ken is not solely an instructor; he has also participated in competitions such as the Onnit Invitational, 3rd Coast, Submissions Hunter, Forge Fire, and ADCC. He has won multiple NAGA championships. With 15 years of experience in this sport, he continues to grow and perfect his skills but also enjoys teaching and helping his students compete at their best.
Under Coach Alfaro's guidance, Jiu Jitsu students not only refine their skills on the mats but also embrace the challenge of competitive arenas. From local tournaments to prestigious events like ADCC, Submission Hunter Pro, and IBJJF, they exhibit their grappling prowess across diverse platforms. Whether competing in NAGA or Elevate Submissions Series, they epitomize the discipline and dedication instilled within them, showcasing their hard-earned abilities beyond the academy's walls.
About Empire
From 2015 to 2017, Ken Alfaro served as an instructor at a local UFC gym. Motivated by a commitment to fostering martial arts and creating a supportive community, he took the initiative to establish The Empire Jiu Jitsu in 2017. Since its inception, The Empire Jiu Jitsu has remained an inclusive and vibrant hub for both seasoned practitioners and newcomers alike, steadfast in its dedication to the art and ethos of Jiu Jitsu.
